Memorial Day Ceremony at York Hall

Monday, May 28, 2018

Please join us as we honor the men and women who helped preserve our nation’s freedom and who died while serving in our Armed Forces. York Hall, 301 Main Street.

The Fifes and Drums of York Town will march to the site at the War Memorial on the grounds of York Hall, at 11:45 a.m. Keynote speaker is Col. David L. Ward, USA (Ret.), who served for 28 years as an Army Officer in the Military Intelligence Corps and is a teacher of Military History at the College of William & Mary.

Members of Veterans of Foreign Wars Post 824 will serve as the Color Guard.  Wreath laying ceremonies will be conducted by the Disabled American Veterans Chapter 13 and the Comte De Grasse Chapter, Daughters of the American Revolution.  Flags will be presented by the York High School Junior ROTC.  The ceremony includes the playing of “Taps.”

The Memorial Day remembrance program is sponsored each year by the York County Historical Committee. In case of inclement weather, the service will be held indoors in York Hall’s second floor Board Meeting Room.
