Watermen's Museum Reopens for the Season & Debuts New Exhibits

Learn about the role Chesapeake Bay Watermen, from pre-colonial to modern times, have played in the shaping of our nation through a historical display of exhibits, crafts, methods of their trade, and a look into their lives.
With its reopening today, the Watermen's Museum will debut four new exhibits:
- Sea Level Rise and Land Subsidence (indoors in Gallery #4)
- Oyster Harvesting and Aquaculture Exhibit (outdoors behind the Main Museum building)
- Maritime Trades (rope-making, pottery, boatbuilding, and sail-making) Exhibit (the Windmill Lot)
- Comparative Energy (solar wind and tidal) Exhibit (Windmill Lot)
Be sure to visit the Gift Shop, restocked with more than 4,000 items!
And, mark your calendars for other upcoming events:
April 9: Tartan and Tie-Dye Celebration Fundraiser to benefit American Cancer Society - 10 Bands. Chef K Cooking is catering. St. George Brewery will be here Celtic and Grateful Dead-style music from 11 AM to 9 PM. Asking for a $10 donation at the gate.
April 16 – Annual Chili Cook Off - $10 per person – Serving Chili from Noon to 3 PM. Come taste chili made by each competing team and cast your vote for the People’s Choice Award.
Also, April 16 – from Dusk until 9 PM – Join us for our Easter Vigil on the Beach - Free to the Public!
April 23-24 Yorktown Pirate Invasion 10 AM-5 PM – Town-wide event – At the Museum: Re-enactors, Cannon Firings; Music; Gloucester Brewing Company; Black Pearl Food Truck; Polar Ice Truck; and Numerous Vendors.
