Art at the River May 5, 2019

This sixth annual juried art show will return to Riverwalk Landing in Historic Yorktown on Sunday, May 5 from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. A Basketry Guild will conduct onsite weaving demonstrations and will have handwoven baskets for sale.

This year will also include new kids activities with the Tidewater Woodturners and the Yorktown Arts Foundation. Visitors can enjoy live music from Sojorn and an purchase food and drink from Carrot Tree Kitchens Yorktown.

Judges will be sisters and fellow artists Gail Bruce McIntosh and Bonnie Bruce Mettler. Both graduated from York High School in the 60s and received their art degrees from Philadelphia art schools. The duo has collaborated on several projects including three large murals at a cafe, private residence, and college. This is the first time they will jury a show together.

Student Art from York County High Schools will also be on display inside the Freight Shed from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m.

The event is presented by the At at the River Committee in conjunction with York County and the Yorktown Foundation, with support from the Celebrate Yorktown Committee, the Economic Development Authority and the York County and Williamsburg Area Arts Commissions.
