The Yorktown Victory Monument - FREE Public Lecture
Sunday, October 17, 2021
Local author Maria Hepner will discuss the history of the Yorktown Victory Monument.
Over a 100-year period from the time the memorial was authorized by the Continental Congress, the story of the development and preservation of the monument is a tangle of government, military, artists, historians, and forces of nature. Ms. Hepner's ties to York County reaching back 14 generations make her uniquely qualified to tell the story of the monument and the town that surrounds it. Copies of her newly released book, "The Yorktown Victory Monument," will be available for sale and signing by the author following the lecture.
Please note that face masks are required of all attendees. Seating is limited.
The event is subject to cancellation. If this lecture is canceled for any reason, notification will be made on the event hotline: 757.890.3520.
This event is presented by the York County Historical Committee and the York County Historical Museum.
