Civil War Walking Tour of Yorktown Village, Part 1: 1861-1862

Sunday, July 11, 2021

There is no better way to experience Historic Yorktown than taking a stroll with a professional historian! Tour guides Maureen Wiese and J. Michael Moore of Hampton Roads Tours will provide interesting information and insights not typically found in history books.

Join us as we explore Yorktown during the Civil War era. The Peninsula Campaign of 1862 pitted two colorful commanders against each other over a Revolutionary War battlefield, deploying such modern technologies as aerial observation and improvised explosive devices.

Attendees must be able to walk at a leisurely pace for an hour, with stops along the way. Children must be accompanied by an adult.

Michael Moore's book, Yorktown's Civil War Siege Drums Along the Warwick, will be available for purchase and a signing will take place before and after the tours. The cost of the book is $20.
