Take a Stroll with a Historian - Founding Fathers of Yorktown Tour

Saturday, July 4, 2020

Celebrate the USA’s birthday with a walking tour of Yorktown with two local historians.

There is no better way to experience Yorktown Village than taking a stroll with a professional historian! Tour guides Maureen Wiese and J. Michael Moore of Hampton Roads Tours will provide interesting historical information and insights not typically found in history books.

The last major battle of the Revolutionary War was the 1781 Siege of Yorktown. As early as 1769, the seeds of revolution were growing when Yorktown’s leading citizens took their first stand against Great Britain. While strolling down Main Street and walking around Colonial National Park Historical sites, we will follow in the footsteps of Yorktown’s founding fathers and discover how their influence inspired the founding of the United States of America.

Please be aware that this is an outside walking tour with stops along the way. Participants are advised to wear sunscreen, limit the weight of bags, bring a water bottle, and wear comfortable shoes. Children must be accompanied by an adult. Tours are weather permitting. A face mask is required to enter Mobjack Bay Coffee Roasters & Petite Café.

Due to the evolving nature of the COVID-19 pandemic—all York County sponsored and partner community events are subject to postponement or cancellation. This includes changes to dates, times, and locations.
