Grace Church Veterans Day Ceremony
Wednesday, November 11, 2020
Ceremony followed by the playing of “Taps” and replacement of flags “with Honors” of the 96 known veterans from pre-Revolutionary War to Korea and Vietnam.
Due to COVID-19 modifications, attendance will be limited to the first 50-75 people at this annual event, and officials will do contact tracing for everyone who attends, per church requirements. Everyone is asked to wear a face covering during the ceremony, and outdoor areas will be marked out for social distancing. Additionally, individual procession to each veterans' grave for honors and flag replacement will not be part of the ceremony. Known veterans buried at Grace Church will still receive recognition and honors during the reading. After the playing of "Taps," all attendees will participate in a hand salute (as appropriate for active duty military/veterans) or with reverence to the buried at Grace Church and all deceased men and women who have served our country in uniform. Following the ceremony, families and friends may visit the graves of loved ones, as appropriate. Ceremony committee members will replace flags on all graves the weekend before the event.
