Liberty Celebration
Saturday, July 4, 2020
To mark the patriotic occasion, visitors can enjoy interpretive programs, artillery demonstrations, and learn about the challenges that faced our nation’s founders,
Indoors and out, there's no shortage of liberty experiences. See a rare July 1776 broadside of the famous document duplicated in mass to spread the word of liberty from town to town and catch "Liberty Fever," the museum's introductory film shown throughout the day in the main theater. From 10 a.m. to 4:30 p.m., visitors can experience the life of 18th-century soldiers and citizens in outdoor recreations of a Continental Army encampment and Revolution-era farm.
Artillery demonstrations will begin at 11 a.m. and 4:15 p.m., and a program on feeding the troops will take place at 2 p.m.
Residents of York County, James City County, and the City of Williamsburg, including College of William and Mary students, receive complimentary admission with proof of residency.
Due to the evolving nature of the COVID-19 pandemic—all York County sponsored and partner community events are subject to postponement or cancellation. This includes changes to dates, times, and locations.
