POSTPONED Watermen's Museum Reopening & New Exhibit Debut

Tuesday, March 31, 2020

Due to COVID-19, all activities at the Watermen's Museum and in the Carriage House are on hold until at least April 14. The Bay to Belly exhibit will be rescheduled at a later date.

Learn about the role Chesapeake Bay Watermen, from pre-colonial to modern times, have played in the shaping of our nation through a historical display of exhibits, crafts, methods of their trade, and a look into their lives.

The Watermen's Museum reopens with an exciting new exhibit called Bay to Belly. The collaborative project with Thomas Nelson Community College looks at the Foodways of the Chesapeake and features everything from harvesting and packing seafood to local recipes and family traditions passed down over the years. The exhibit will be set up in the Carriage House until April 10 before traveling to the college and then to other museums around the Chesapeake Bay for up to 18 months before returning to Yorktown.
