Paws at the River - EXTENDED Yorktown Market Days

Saturday, October 31, 2020

Yorktown Market Days' annual Paws at the River Market is designed to bring awareness to animal rescue organizations and help place adoptable pets in their “furever” homes.

On this special day, the market fun will extend down to the green in front of the Riverwalk Landing businesses, where you'll find several pet vendors and animal rescue organizations. Be sure to get there early for a free picture with your canine companion; each photo will be uploaded to Facebook. Photos will take place from 9 a.m. to 12 p.m.

And, of course, be sure to join us for our annual Halloween Pet Parade which kicks off at 1 p.m. behind the Freight Shed and does a loop around the market! Entertainment and commentary will be provided by local favorite, Phil Poteat.

For those of you with dogs who are skittish around loud noises, please take note that the Fifes and Drums of York Town will march through the area at 10 a.m.

NEW this year - participating Historic Yorktown businesses will also be handing out goodies from 10 to 3. A trick-or-treat map will be posted on both the Visit Yorktown and Yorktown Market Days Facebook pages along with several signs displayed throughout town that day. A limited number of bags will be available at each location. Your child may also want to bring his or her own to the market.

We are taking important precautions to keep our customers and vendors safe amidst COVID-19 concerns, including required spacing between vendors and a setup to avoid congestion in typically high-traffic areas. All vendors and staff are required to wear face coverings when interacting with customers who are less than 6 feet away. Hand sanitizer stations will be set up as you enter, as well as signs stating that no one with a fever or symptoms of COVID-19, or known exposure to a COVID-19 case in the prior 14 days, is permitted to shop at the market.

All York County events are subject to change as a result of COVID. This includes times, locations, and planned activities. Please check back often for updates.
