"Broadcasting to Our Troops Overseas" and Flag Ceremony

Monday, November 11, 2019

Be a part of the audience as Shades of Our Past historical interpreters recreate a World War II Armistice Day Radio Broadcast. (Note: Not an actual radio broadcast.) Immediately following the program, a Flag Ceremony will be held on the lawn in front of the museum.

Join us as we salute the women and men who fight for our freedom. Immediately following the radio program, all are welcome to participate in a flag ceremony. Gene Hough of the Legacy Marker Program will unveil and fold the 20' x 30' Traveling Flag as a commemoration of the sacrifices of our soldiers and citizens during World War I and World War II. To date, this flag has visited 11 states and been unveiled and folded by more than 5,000 participants. This is the first time the flag has been to Virginia.

The Legacy Marker Program is dedicated to conducting historical and cemetery monument education and preservation programs. Escorts will be available to help those needing assistance to and from the museum building and event lawn.
