Welcome to Historic Yorktown, where autumn paints a breathtaking canvas of vibrant colors and unforgettable experiences. As the leaves change and the temperatures cool, Historic Yorktown comes alive with the beauty of autumn.
Prepare to be awe-struck as you witness nature's masterpiece in the form of stunning fall foliage. The streets, parks, and landscapes of Yorktown transform into a kaleidoscope of reds, oranges, and yellows, creating a picture-perfect setting for your fall getaway.
As you travel to Historic Yorktown, consider taking the Colonial Parkway, a 23-mile stretch of paved river-gravel roadway, which is an attraction in and of itself and is perfect for sightseeing. The road runs parallel to the James and York Rivers and was constructed to integrate the region’s natural and cultural beauty. It's the ideal route to take in the vibrant, picturesque environment! (Note: Parts of the Colonial Parkway are closed for construction. You may need to take an alternate route to get to Historic Yorktown.)
From the time you pick up the Colonial Parkway in Williamsburg to the time you exit here in Yorktown is about a 20-minute drive. There are several designated stops along the way to pull over and soak in the ambiance. Once you arrive to our tip of the Historic Triangle—you’ll find even more breathtaking views and opportunities for spectacular photos and memorable outdoor adventures.

As a tourism office, our goal is to inspire people to #visityorktown year-round. One of the easiest ways to do that is through beautiful images shot around town, especially those shared on Instagram. After all, it’s one thing to talk about how amazing everything is—it’s another to be able to show you!
From our breathtaking sunrises and sunsets to the signature sails of our home-ported tall ships to our Revolutionary roots—everywhere you turn, memories are waiting to be made (and snapped!). It’s easy to see why Yorktown is becoming a scenic destination not just for locals and tourists, but international travel writers and social media influencers alike.
