Bells of Peace - A World War I Remembrance U.S. WWI Centennial Commission

Join the York County WWI & WWII Commemoration Committee and Yorktown churches as we participate in a national bell-ringing ceremony on the 100th anniversary of Armistice Day.  The WWI armistice between the Allies and Germany took effect on the eleventh hour of the eleventh day of the eleventh month of 1918.  On this day we will honor veterans not only of WWI, but all veterans who have served our country. 

Please visit the York County Historical Museum in York Hall after the program to view our artifacts and displays from World War I and all of York County’s history!

Local historian Tim L. Smith will share stories of our veterans and county residents as they lived and served during the time of the Great War.

“Letters and Stories from War,” Presented by Tim L. Smith 

This annual service recognizing all veterans of our armed forces will include a bell ringing, presentation of the colors, singing of the National Anthem, Pledge of Allegiance, wreath laying, and “Taps.”
